Ministry Past, Present and Future

The last two years at St George's Anglican Church Hurstville has been a big change for me and also a big challenge since I moved from Cabramatta Anglican Church.
But I can say that the last two years being at Hurstville has been great and has made me grown spiritually as a leader and as a servant of God.

As for the year 2010, I am still going to be serving at Hurstville and that big challenges and changes are lying ahead for me.

Firstly, I am still overseeing the whole youth ministry at Hurstville and looking forward to this year's plan and vision as we see more and more youths coming to youth group and bible studies.

Secondly, teaching Sunday school scripture class (Year 5-6) would be a challenge for me, since I love children alot. As well as it is a first time in taking on Sunday school.

Thirdly, Moving out of home this year during late Feb - March 2010, where I would be closer to church and able to do ministry more effectively and also close to work (Part-Time).

Lastly, Want to start heading into High School Scripture classes and lunchtime sessions in Hurstville Boys High, Sydney Tech Boys High, Oatley High School. But especially Blakehurst High School to reach out to those youths that do not know God. As well as continuing on in doing Primary School Scripture classes at Hurstville Public School, where I will be teaching Year 6 class.

  1. Youth Group at church started on the 29th Jan 2010 and up until now things have been going great. We are grateful that new youths have being coming to youth group regularly and also seeing them keen to hear more about God's word. Our youth group has an average of 25-30 kids coming each night and also 15-18 kids come on sunday bible studies to learn more about the Bible and Jesus.

  2. High school scripture has been tough at Hurstville Boys High, working with Geoff (Scripture Teacher).
But still even though its hard and tough, I would say that I still love it and can be a challenge for me and Geoff. But its awesome and great to see them come during their lunchtimes.
    PRAISE GOD!!

  3. It has been a while since updating and commenting what is happening with ministry.

Firstly, Youth Ministry has been going great having 20-25 regular youth coming along to Friday Night Youth Group. They have been going through the book of 1 Corinthians.

We also attended KYCK 2010 on the 9th - 11th April and was awesome and great. We went through the book of Ecclesiastes and going through it made myself think as well as a reminder that we always need God in our lives and his the one with the full authority and control and not us. I also had to be a humble servant and not be proud or selfish.

I got to enjoy the weekend away with the youth but also able to spend time with them together and getting to know them well.
It was wonderful and felt encouraged by it.

Secondly, Church Ministry has been going well, as I see that the service is growing and steady but not dropping in numbers. I am thankful to God for this wonderful service that is being running for 3 years now and seeing 40-50 members come to church. PRAISE GOD!!

On the 18th April myself and the core church service team that looks after the church service of 11:45am needed to train the members who are volunteered to help out and would be a great session for them to be equipped and able to help the service run smoothly and also spreading the load of work around. Able to serve each other.

Thirdly, I have stepped out of Sunday School, and the reason is because of the workload I am taking in ministry and would not want to burn out.
But it has given me a wonderful experience as I have never taught year 5 and 6 kids. These kids were a wonderful bunch and enjoyed their laughter and time with them for the past 3 months I had.
We all had a good relationship with each other and knowing that they sometimes do like me back and to teach them. But always got to see them around at church on Sunday and greet them.

Finally, Primary and High School Scripture has been the best experience I have ever got and it is like a mission just not overseas but local mission. My primary school scripture class which is yr 6 is a wonderful bunch. They are keen to learn about God and the Bible. But also a great relationship with these kids and it is still ongoing.
I do thank God and praise God for giving myself the opportunity to teach and spread his wonderful news to others that do not know him.
For high school ministry, it has been a challenging one at Hurstville Boys High with Geoff Everett. From observing them and by their personality and attitude they do want to learn about God but as teenagers they have their own priorities and thinking about themselves but its still great to have them at scripture class. But I need to keep asking God that we need to be patience and loving. But knowing that we already planted the seed, God will make them grow.

For the meantime that would be the things that I like to share with everyone and how I am going in ministry training.
